Support Wiesbrook: Shop-n-Share
If you plan to shop at Jewel-Osco Nov 30th, Dec 1st or Dec 2nd, remember to present your Shopn-Share certificate. Do so and 5% of your total purchases, excluding tax, will be donated to Wiesbrook by Jewel-Osco. For your convenience, the certificate is at the end of this newsletter (page 2). Feel free to copy as needed. Additional copies of the Shop-n-Share certificate are available in the school office. Thank you for your ongoing support of Wiesbrook School!
 
Attention 5th Grade Girls
The Wheaton Park District is looking for a few more 5th grade girls to join the Wiesbrook Basketball League. Games start the week of Dec 7th, so there is still time to get in a few practices. St. James Farm- Quail Wagon Drawing
If the kids are looking for something to do over Thanksgiving break, pull out the St. James Farm Quail Wagon ticket drawing project. This was sent home via back pack mail this week. If you would like to participate, read the information included, and make your own ticket on the paper provided. No need for a name or grade on it, just return it to the office by Wednesday, Dec 2nd. St. James Work Day
Power Paws is offering another opportunity to help out at St. James Farm. On Tuesday, November 17th, we will meet at St. James Farm from 3:45- 5:45 to help the Forest Preserve collect seeds or assist in a mulching project. We had about 25 people join us in October and we had a great time. Hope you can join us on Tuesday! Wear warm clothing and bring work gloves, if you have them. You will also need to bring a signed waiver (unless you helped out last month) that is attached to this newsletter. Please enter St. James Farm from Mack Road when you arrive. American Education Week Display
Wiesbrook School is celebrating American Education Week in conjunction with other D200 schools by displaying ours students artwork is various locations in Wheaton. Once again, Wheaton Shoe and Repair is the merchant that is proudly displaying the artwork of the following students
 
Battle of the Books Demonstration
The Wheaton Public Library will have a Battle of the Books demonstration on Thursday November 19th at 4pm. All interested students are encouraged to attend. Come out at support our Battle team. Questions, Call Heather Eberle at (630) 933-9671.

5th Grade Power Paws
Fifth Grade Power Paws has an upcoming opportunity to assist our designated
organization: “Feed My Starving Children” in Aurora. This is a purely volunteer program in which your entire family can participate. We will be on-site at their Aurora facility to package food items. The organization requires that we have one adult chaperone for every three children attending the event. Our next event is the Monday of Thanksgiving week: November 23rd: Noon to 2 p.m. 67 spots still available

Blanket Drive: Need more room in the linen closet for those flannel sheets? Donate your used sheets, towels and blankets to Girl Scout Troop 1127's Blanket Drive for the DuPage Animal Control Center. Spiritwear Is Arriving!
Those who ordered Wiesbrook spiritwear will receive their orders on early next week! Orders will be sent home with your child. We apologize for the slight delay in getting these items to you. A significant portion of our order was on back order from a manufacturer this year. If you do not receive your items, please contact Amy Keske at

Halloween Candy Collection
Wiesbrook will once again collect any of your excess Halloween candy and deliver it to the People’s Resource Center. You may drop off candy in the bin located in the school’s front lobby.
If you think your children can resist the temptation of eating all the candy, you may send it with them also. The collection will continue through November 10th. This year, the 2nd graders, through Power Paws, will be handling the sorting and bagging. Thanks 2nd grade!
 
Blanket Drive
Donate your old blankets, towels, and sheets to DuPage Animal Shelter, to help make beds for hundreds of cute animals awaiting adoption. The drive will be held from Friday, October 30th through Friday, November 16th. You can stop by before the Fall Festival parade, in between teacher conferences or before or after school. We will have a box set up in the school lobby for drop-off. Please be kind and wash your towels before you bring them in, if they are dirty. All blankets are welcome, but baby blankets are a plus. This drive is run by 5th grade Junior Girl Scout Troop #1127. If you have any questions, please contact Kim Duttlinger at 752-1733. We thank you for your support!
 
4th Grade Power Paws
On Friday, November 6th, the 4th Grade Power Paws will be making a second visit to the Convalescent Center to host a bingo game for the residents from 3:50 to 5:15 p.m. A great time was had by all during the last visit! Additional permission slips are available in the school office for anyone who may wish to attend on the 6th but did not already sign up. Our directories went home via back pack mail this week. All PTA members should now have their copy. If you joined PTA and did not receive your copy, please contact Sharon Larson, VP Membership at (630) 752-1604 or at sbrodalarson@comcast.net. You may still join PTA and receive a directory. To do so, please contact Sharon or download PTA membership forms from Wiesbrook’s website. Then, return them to school with your membership dues via back pack mail.

Fall Festival
The Fall Festival is almost here!! This Friday Oct. 30th, ghosts, goblins, ketchups, mustards, witches, robots and more will invade Wiesbrook! The festivities kick off at 1pm, with a parade on the school grounds, weather permitting. Class parties will follow from 1:30 – 2:15. The afternoon will culminate in a school-wide assembly coordinated by Dr. Turyna. For further details, please refer to Dr Turyna’s letter
sent home via back pack mail last week. Remember, if your child is going home for lunch that day, please send a note to school, and plan to pick up your child at 11:45 AM. Child who eat lunch at school on Friday will be allowed time to change into their costumes.

All visitors must enter through the main door (Door #1) at all times. Safety patrol students are unable to
allow visitors to enter through any other door. Please help our patrols follow this rule by walking around
